Sweet like Sugar Venom Oh Yeah-fotd

In a past post I mentioned how I was obsessed with the singer Lana Del Ray. An indie mermaid who sounds like Nancy Sinatra if she slept with drug dealers and drank bourbon out of the bottle. Her lyrics borderline on the obsessive or morbid depending on the song, though simple they invoke an image of cracked out tainted love that reminds me of Sid and Nancy. I must admit her music is not as deep as say Tori Amos but it certainly is enjoyable. (Especially if you are a big mushy romantic like me.)
I did my make-up as if I were applying it to her face. I kept her much loved cat eye shaped liner and nude lips while adding a pop of color. It was difficult to contour my nose into the shape her nose is but I tried damn it, I tried. My lips are nice and plump naturally but I couldn't take my lips to the poison injected height Lana's are without the help of highlighting and dark brown lip liner. I usually hate nude lips on me but I loved the way they turned out for this look.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeshadow pencil in Sin
Fyrinnae e/s in Rapunzel Had Hair Extensions (A sheer gold peach patted on the lid.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Te Amo (A pretty bronze flecked taupe used in the crease.)
Wet n Wild Vanity palette (Shimmery brown used to deepen crease.)
Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Mildew (Used to rim the lower lash line and waterline.)
Sleek Bohemian palette (Metallic olive used to set Mildew on the lower lash line. The pale matte ivory is what I used to highlight. I also used to the matte black to trace out my cat eyeliner shape.)
NYC liquid eyeliner in black (Used to trace the wing, stopping in the middle of the lid.)

lips-
Foundation(Patted the lips to lightly to hide natural pigmentation.)
Random nudey-brown toned lip liner (Used to line top and bottom lip, shading in the sides to add depth.)
Nyx round lipstick in Circe (A pale nude lip patted on the middle of the lip and smudged outward lightly.)
Wet n Wild Vanity palette e/s in Tan (Run along the bottom on the lower lip to create a false shadow for depth.)

What do you think? Do you like Lana Del Ray? Is your music taste a bit different? I'd love to hear about who you like that's new in the music world. Then we can share the musical love!

  1. Lana Del Rey is freaking gorgeous, as is the slightly drawn-out eyeliner wing. I don't think you normally do it quite that winged out, right?

  2. I love the olive shade under your eyes. I think it looks super gorgeous on you. I've been reconsidering my stance on nude lips recently too.

  5. OMG, this look is KILLER and spot on! And I love the headband, so perfect. I've been listening to comedy lately, so, Patton Oswalt, Eddie Izzard, George Carlin, Ron White. But before that, totes another LdR phase. And Regina Spektor. And Jessie J.
