Lyra's Compass-fotd

For my Fantasy Fiction class we had to read The Golden Compass which surprisingly I've never read. As a child I read constantly, I would even read in class, hiding my books between text book pages. The Golden Compass is about a young girl Lyra and her daemon Pan who live in Jordan college who is not your average childhood book character. She's described as being half wild and a great liar. A daemon is a person's soul outside of their body that takes the form of an animals. Her adventure starts when she saves her Uncle from a poisoned bottle of wine while the children of the town begin to disappear including her best friend Roger. The book is well written as well as intensely engaging. When I have children my girl's are going to read this book instead of Twilight. Strong female character who travel all the way to the arctic while battling child nappers and learning about Dust? Way better then simpering, sullen teens who can't figure out which supernatural boyfriend to pick. (Uhm...I don't like Twilight very much sorry.) This look is based on her golden compass or alethiometer, it's a symbol reader that can tell you the future. Being able to read it is one of Lyra's many talents. I chose the blue in the crease to represent her journey North to rescue her Uncle and friend's from the Gobblers. Go read this book, I'm serious. You'll love it.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Estee Lauder Eyeshadow stick in Gold (Used just on the lid.)
Sugarpill e/s in Afterparty (A bright blue with a turquoise undertone used in a c shape in the crease and then blended upwards. The unblended lower crease being the strongest in color.)
Randow matte ivory e/s (Highlight applied to brow bone and blended downward into Afterparty.)
Femme Fatale cosmetics e/s Riptide (A true blue with shimmery sky blue sparkles blended into Afterparty to add shimmer and a bluer pigment.)
Fyrinnae pixie epoxy (Just on the lid, over the shadow stick.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Book of the Dead (A neutral gold patted on the lid.)
Wet n Wild shimmery ivory e/s (Used on the brow bone and inner corner of the lid.)
Random liner
Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes!

Nyx Lip gloss in French Kiss (A cool, almost nude toned pink.)

I really like this look, I'm sort proud of the blending too. Oh! I almost forgot! You guys always ask how I get my crease wing so crisp and clean well cheat. I use a damp q-tip to straighten out the wing as well as correct any errors. I should probably put up a video to show how I do my eye make-up but I'm a little nervous about tutorials. Now I'm off to go write some papers for this class and study for German. Whooo!

Feast For the Eyes- 3 fotds

You may have noticed that second look is not of me. That's of my best friend Heather! I've been begging her for YEARS to let me put make-up on her gorgeous face but she never lets me. Heather is not one of those girls who wears make-up, nor does she really need to. We've been best friends for sixteen years though we seem like opposites. Heather is really low key where I at least need a tad bit of mascara before leaving the house.
We met in first grade, I introduced myself while wearing a puffy pink dress thinking she needed to be fed. She thought I needed to be defended because the other girls made fun of me for wearing such a poofy dress. I shared my cosmic brownie with her as well as my sandwich. She's been fighting off the bullies ever since.Once we hit high school she started to wear closer fitting tops, our roles slightly reversed. Now I have to defend her form the hoards of dudes who like her.
I have no idea what I'd do without her.

First Look: Golden Wish Bone

Eyes-
TFSI
Femme Fatale cosmetics e/s in Smokebomb (Black based bronze used in the crease.)
Wet n Wild e/s palette in Vanity (Shimmery brown blended into the crease to help blend out the intensely pigmented Smokebomb. The matte ivory was also used under the brows as well as the shimmery gold ivory to highlight the brow bone and inner corner.)
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Sugarpill e/s in Goldilux (An intense yellow gold applied all over the lid.)
Wet n wild gel eyeliner in black
Nyx e/s in black (Applied to the upper water line.)
I actually forgot mascara

lips-
Nyx round lipstick in Peach (Rubbed away to create a stain on the lips.)

Second Look: Copper Gravy Boat

Eyes-
TFSI
Nyx jumbo e/s pencil in Milk
Wet n Wild Vanity palette
-Tan color used all over lid
-Dark matte brown used just along the lash line and faded upwards for smokey look
-Shimmery golden brown applied on the ball of the lid and blended slightly into crease to add depth
-Shimmery ivory used to highlight inner corner
-Shimmery gold used in the crease as a dramatic line
-Matte ivory used to highlight
Nyx e/s in black (Used to line the upper lash line lightly)
Wet n Wild gel eyeliner in black
No mascara since Heather HATES mascara

lips-
Nyx round lipstick in Indian Pink (Rubbed down to create stain.)

Third Look:Poisoned Green Beans

Eyes-
TFSI
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Shiro cosmetics Kokiri forest (Shimmery olive green used all over the lid.)
Darling Ghouls e/s in Bats in the Belfry (Swampy brown green used in the crease.)
Femme Fatale cosmetics e/s in Poison (Poisonous green used on the inner corner of the lid.)
Wet n Wild Vanity palette (Shimmery ivory used to highlight.)
Almay liquid eyeliner in black
Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes!

lips-
Nyx round lipstick in Thalia

I've been favoring the blended in crease as of late. It's very different from my usual hard lined crease colors. I actually like the blended out look a lot. I do it on other people so why not do it on myself for a change. I hope your Thanksgiving was lovely! I also hoped you did not get trampled by the crazy people out on Black Friday. I went to Wal-mart at ten at night, that was a terrible idea. I was groped, rammed and pushed by several different people. Please be safe when you shop!

Chasm Fire-fotd

Imagine the grit that gets stuck under your nails. The kind you can't get out without running your teeth along the under side of your filthy finger. The grit then sticks in your teeth and you have a crunch that sticks with you as you eat through out the day. That's what Hel is like. They named the city as a joke. Zion was suppose to be heaven, a glowing city of lights. While Hel was for the damned souls that couldn't make it to heaven.
The cosmic joke was played well on my dark city. There are no neon lights here. The city is never graced by a ray of sunlight nor the warmth of nature. Nothing grows down here except phosphorescent mushrooms and lichen that lines the raw rock walls. There are buildings in the city, even sky scrapers. We call them earth touchers here. Once upon a time this moldering city sat above ground but now it's sunk so far below no one can even remember the names of the buildings.
The Neo-ites rarely come down from their glittering thrones unless they need something jacked. Jacking, in your terms, is hacking. A jacker will steal into your files, rip up the data they need and leave before you even notice your plasma block was breeched. Your head will be left churning as memories are erased, transactions are deleted or complete human links are severed from the main server. They can kill you digitally with one flick of a finger. Most of the Neo's who visit the Jacker's are business men. They're the government up there. They hold all the power now thanks to commercial capitalism.
I bet you're wondering how I know so much. Well humble reader I am one of these mystical Jacker's. I think you are imagining me to be one of your 21st century internet wizards. I assure you I have no neck beard nor do I play on 4chan discussing ponys in length with other grown men.
We are the Collective.
A group of jackers formed from the fallen elite. Most of us used to be Neo's but after the trials we were exiled here to pay for our crimes. Crimes the commercial government payed us to do. But that's why we're getting revenge.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Fyrinnae e/s in Sorceress (Blacked teal/green used to create a cat eye shape on the lid also rubbed along the lower lash line.)
Persephone Minerals e/s in Escort (A hooker blue applied to the inner crease.)
Black Rose Minerals in Poseidon (A sea colored green/blue blended into the upper crease.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Mischief Makers (A cool toned ivory silver to used to highlight the brow bone and inner corner of the lid.)
Wet n Wild gel eyeliner in black
Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes mascara

lips-
Wet n Wild concealer in Ivory
Nyx lip gloss in French Kiss

I originally did a black lip with this but I ended up hating it. It was to much for a look that was based on an down trodden cyber city. I think I'm going to make this a trilogy of short stories. I have to start writing the next one but I find my inspiration is at it's peek in the early morning. Isn't that always the case? You can't sleep then you do something creative and everything is just fantastic haha.

Neon Dynasty-fotd

The sky clashes with the bright city. It's darkness can't reach inside the dome but it stays, stalking the light like a hungry beast. Inside the glass dome the city is like a techno candyland. Neon lights flash in every window, dancing signs splatter across sidewalks and window frames. The whole city is one big commercial. The people in the city are unlike most. They bare no resemblance to normalcy any more. Some have dyed skin the color of rainbows while others have skull implants that make them look like demons. They look like faeries or angels with gnashing teeth that don't fit their jaws and wings that flicker but cannot hold them up for glamour. These people are called the Neo-ites.
The Neo-ites are rich with money in stocks or housing while the Underlings, the impoverished people of the city, rot in filth. Under the flashing lights and pounding night clubs the spidery spindles of the city sink deep into the ground. The city below is a dark shadow of the city above. In the deep chasms carved out by the old subways, opium dens and technology tunnels of the past live the Underlings. The people below look haunted, their cheeks sallow from lack of light and gaunt from lack of food. The Underlings can gain entrance into the shining world above but this is rare. However the amount of Neo-ites that have fallen from grace is high.
I being one of them.
Zeyea, my Mother used to say, don't look into the chasm or the chasm will look into you. But I have looked into the abyss one to many times to go back into the lights.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Nyx jumbo e/s pencil in Milk
120 palette
-Dark metallic beetle green blended into the lower crease
-Matte nearly neon green brushed into the upper crease
-Shimmery royal blue patted onto 3/4's of the lid leaving the rest bare
-Silvery light blue blended onto the rest of the lid
-Medium periwinkle purple applied to the lower lash line
-Light lilac brushed onto half of the lower lash line
-Light silver rubbed into the inner corner of the lid to create sheen
-Matte white to define the brow bone
Almay liquid eyeliner in black
Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes! Mascara

lips-
Hot Pink Lip Liner
Morgana Cryptoria lipstick in Valentine (Discontinued)
Hard Candy Chill Out lip gloss mixed with Sugarpill Decora

Bladerunner-esque story eh? Not my usual writing style but I like the idea of twin cities. One in the dark and one in the light, neither fully evil nor full good but full of technological supernatural beings. I kind of imagine it to be like the city in Tron Legacy but more club kid. Didja enjoy the drabble? I'm not sure if I should write more since cyber punk is not my strong point. Oh yes I should add that I did this for the fierce challenge for Never too Much Sparkle, yay!

Not Your Girl-fotd/Renee

As you may recall a month or so ago my very close friend Renee asked me to do her wedding make-up. A day before we had gone over several different styles including a look that was to sexy for wedding make-up. When I asked her if I could do her make-up (Like I usually do. Her face is just wonderful.) she asked me to do something similar to the sexy make-up I did with a sixties twist.
The sixties twist? Where does that come in? Well you see Renee is a HUGE Elvis fan. She can probably tell you every single thing about him. She is loves the sixties era including the mod-ish make-up Priscilla, Elvis's wife, wore. We attempted three different looks before we did this one including a mod like eye that I completely messed up on.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Nyx jumbo e/s pencil in Milk
Sugarpill e/s in Tako (A pure matte white used on the inner corner of the eye.)
Shiro Cosmetic e/s in Gengar ( A very shimmery brown applied all over the lid.)
Darling Ghoul e/s Witch and Famous (A warm taupe used lightly in her crease.)
Shiro Cosmetics e/s Meowth (Sparkly ivory used all over the brow bone and inner corner.)
Nyx e/s in black (Used along the lash line to define eyes but still make them look subtle.)
Mascara

lips-
Hard Candy lip gloss hand mixed with Sugarpill's Decora

Renee was one of the first people to let me do make-up on her. I used to do insane wings, masks and unblended monsters I used to call Avant Garde looks. Ha. Renee is moving to Okinawa Japan in January to be with her husband who is a Marine. I'm going to miss her so much but I know Mark, her hubby, will keep her safe and happy. Please wish her luck on her on coming journey.

Glamour or Tee-shirts-fotd

On Friday I was asked to do wedding make-up for a friend. I hadn't spoken to her in a while so when the facebook message popped up a few weeks ago I was surprised. My fiance also officiates weddings so it was kind of like a two for one deal. She really liked her make-up which I had kept natural and sweet. She looked beautiful, not because of my hand, but because of her natural glow. Sadly I didn't get a picture of her make-up like I wanted. I had forgotten my other camera.
After the wedding the fiance and I celebrated by going out to dinner and shopping a bit. I bought the new Too Faced Glamour To Go dream addition palette and a small gift set full of Tarte goodies. I'm really impressed with Tarte I'm certainly going to be buying from them again. I'm kind of in love with their mascara. It's a wet formula which I hate but it makes my eye lashes look so long.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Nyx Jumbo eyeshadow pencil in Milk (Used as a base and on the waterline.)
Too Faced Glamour To Go palette
-A shimmery soft pink used in the crease
-Shimmery light pink used on the lid
-Another shimmery mushroom purple used along the outer edge of the crease
-Is there another word for shimmery shade of ivory
Wet n Wild liquid eyeliner pen
Tarte Lights,Camera, Lashes!

lips-
Tarte Lip surge in Enchanted

So I'm curious what high end brands do you like? I love Estee Lauder, I've been buying their make-up since I was eleven years old. Now I usually stick to indie since I love indie so much but it is fun to try out different brands. I can't wait to hear your opinions.

Amethyst Caverns,Crystal Fortess-fotd

These pictures were taken outside if you can believe that. (Ok the first two were the last one was taken inside.) My lovely autumn wonderland has become a dismal November rain, blech. I like how these pictures turned out, you can see the teal duo-chrome in the shadow on the lid. Neat!
This Friday I'm doing another wedding for a friend. She wants the make-up very simple and clean with false eyelashes. I admit, I'm pretty crappy at it so I think I'm going to attempt to practice tomorrow. Today I went out to look for some supplies for the make-up work but I couldn't find disposable mascara wands or the powder puffs with the string on the back so you can put your hand through it. I was annoyed considering how unsanitary mascara can be. I did however pick up Nyx jumbo eyeshadow pencil in milk as well as Urban Decay Primer Potion in the old bottle. I've never owned UDPP so I can't wait to see how it compares to TFSI.

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Concrete Minerals e/s in Wicked (Medium lavender with teal duo-chrome patted on the lid.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Delvian (A muted purple blended into the crease.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Snow Bunny (Shimmery light pink/purple blended on top of Delvian.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Mischief Makers (Silvery ivory used to highlight.)
Almay liquid eyeliner in black
Wet n Wild black cream eyeliner
Mascara

lips-
Wet n Wild lipstick in Taj-mauve-hal (Or something witty like that.)
Then I applied
Morgana Cryptoria lipstick in Azalea Blue

I've really been trying use the old/untouched colors in my stash. I can't believe I've never even touched Delvian before today! I mean the color is named after one of my favorite races in Farscape! A Delvian is what the main character Zahnn is, they're a highly spiritual race that feels other peoples emotions. They're the blue version of Betazoids from Star Trek. Speaking of Star Trek I aught to do more inspired looks shouldn't I? What race would you like to see next? Go on throw one at me!

She Swings on Strawberries and Dances on Leaves-fotd

It seems that Mother Nature has once again confused November for October. The day after Halloween the weather became unnaturally sunny with warm winds casting leaves all over the town. I've thrown my windows open to sit in the golden autumn sun. I wish it had been like this last week. I wanted to savor the last few days of October instead of stewing in doors. It's days like this that make me jot down crazed poems in my notebook. It's days like these that all my dogs dance with the leaves, happily barking as they tumble around. Why can't it be perpetually fall?

What I used:

Eyes-
TFSI
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Aromaleigh e/s in Strawberry Despair (Somewhere between red and pink used on the lid.)
Black Rose Minerals e/s in Carmel Crush (A warm golden tan used along the inner crease.)
Fyrinnae e/s in Sake and Sashami (A chocolatey brown used on the crease.)
Black Rose Minerals e/s in Skink (A sheer ivory with gold flecks used to highlight the brow.)
Almay liquid eyeliner in black
Wet n Wild cream eyeliner in black
Wet n wild liquid eyeliner pen in black (To create a thicker line.)
Mascara

lips-
Random Pink toned lip liner
Estee Lauder lipstick in Fig (My favorite neutral red ever.)

I'm not sure if you guys have seen it yet but Darling Girl is coming out with two new collections. One that's called Diamond Dust, that makes me think of David Bowie, and the other that is Rainbow Brite themed. GAH! I'm so excited. To tide me over until I can place an order I've been staring at Wendy's, Mandy's and Wendi's swatches. So excited! You should also check out my girl Kathy's tutorial on how to be a clown from the dreadful band ICP. It's hilarious. I'd also like to give a shout out to a new collab channel called the Outlaws of Style run by my favorite youtuber Slasherpaint. If you like us Heros you will love the Outlaws! I hope you check out all my links. These ladies and gents are really fun to read and watch. That's what's so great about blogging you get to meet so many like minded people!

Scabby Behavior-fotd (Grossness Warning.)

Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday. I didn't get home till pretty late. I wore this for ten hours yesterday. I'm happy to say it stayed on amazingly well for sloppily applied zombie make-up. I even went to Steak n Shake with this on. But considering I've worn crazier make-up to that Steak n Shake the waiter just brushed it off haha.

What I Used:

Face-
Random mix of white and ivory foundation (For base and general dead look.)
Liquid Latex (Applied with q-tips all over the face.)
Toilet Paper (Made into one ply then placed on the jawline and upper lip to create texture.)
Ben Nye Wound Wheel (Patted, splatted and brushed all over to create wounds, gashes and generally nasty bits.)
Ben Nye Fake Blood (Applied haphazardly over the crunchy/nasty bits.)
Random safari green (Rubbed onto the lips.)
Wet n Wild blush in Heather Silk (Added to one side of the face.)

Eyes-
TFSI
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
Shiro cosmetics in Kokiri Forest (A olivey-green that leans more green applied to the lid.)
Mac cosmetics e/s in Jealousy Wakes (A lovely medium green applied to the crease and lower lid.)
Hi-Fi cosmetics e/s in Storm of Thorns (A slightly darker green applied to the inner crease for depth and used along the lower lash line.)
Black Rose Minerals e/s in Gremlin (A sheer-ish lime green patted onto the inner corner.)
Black Rose Minerals e/s in Skink (A beautiful ivory with fine sparkles used to highlight.)
Almay liquid eyeliner in black
Wet n Wild cream eyeliner in black
Mascara

lips-
bare

A good friend of mine had road rash on her face a few years ago after she fell off of her bike. After I put this on I showed her and she showed me the pictures of her face after the fall. The scabby bits on my face looked just like her old wounds. She then decided to poke at my face where the make-up was applied. Man, I love Halloween.
My Halloween was fun, my friends and I watched The Exorcist which I had never seen before. I really enjoyed it even though I'm not into scary films. I suppose I prefer suspenseful horror rather then scary/gorey horror. (Even though I love special effects make-up.)
Did you guys have a fun Halloween?
