Quick Fix: Tresemme Waterless Foam Shampoo

I realized I don't do enough reviews so welcome to the first quick fix reviews! Quick fix reviews are going to be first impressions or really fast reviews of products I love/hate.
My fiance bought this because he had read that dry shampoos will help the gross feeling of oily roots. We dyed his hair a bright blue recently so he doesn't want to wash his hair to often. He has really thin hair that doesn't get oily till the third day of no washing.
I on the other hand am a greaser full of oil. My hair gets really greasy after one day of no washing. It's very thick with coarse strands that do not take curls, straightening irons or even hold color. I do blow dry it to keep the waves down but my hair remains healthy.
With this Tresemee Waterless Foam shampoo your suppose to pump a bit into your hand. Run it through your hair. Then towel it off to remove whatever dirt or oily bits were in your hair.
We both tried it this morning. It was gross. His usually dry hair felt sticky and very oily. It left a nasty residue on my hands after I touched it. With my hair it gave my bed head a film of extra oil. As I touch my hair right now to feel it the nasties left on my fingers leave grease marks on my laptop keys.
The product isn't all bad however. It smells pretty good and it does get rid of the smell of dirty hair. It's also in the $4 to $6 range which is inexpensive. It did make the top of my hair "look" clean but to me the feeling is more important.
I would give this a 1 out of 5.
I believe Phyrra did a wonderful review on Tresemme's other waterless shampoo.
What are your opinions on this product? Have you used this before? Or do you have any recommendations for a better dry shampoo?

  1. Dry shampoo is sort of a crapshoot, anyway. There are so few that I've heard of that actually work. I would recommend (both professional brands, but they're good) TIGI Rockaholic and KMS California dry shampoos.

When I've had serious bedhead and no time to shower, I used Bed Head's Spoil Me Smoother, De-Frizzer, and Instant Re-Styler. It saved me so many times when I over-slept! Now my hair is short and I have to actually wet it to get rid of all the cowlicks.

When my hair gets longer I'm not fighting the waves anymore. If my fringe is straight, I'm good. Beyond that, I could care less.

  2. That sucks! I have never tried a waterless shampoo, but have thought about it from time to time. I have very oily hair and have to shampoo it once a day.

  3. Bleurgh that sounds gross. I've used a couple of dry shampoo sprays and they always worked quite nicely. I'm a greaseball too and have to wash my hair everyday =/

  4. I bought that product for when I want to clean my hair, but keep its waviness/curls - if I use it sparingly, it's not too bad. But, yeah, it's still pretty gross.

I had a friend who used to use corn starch or baby powder to de-grease her hair when she didn't want to shampoo it. IIRC, she said you had to brush longer with baby powder to get the whitening effect out, but either one worked well for her. Just sprinkle on the roots and brush through.
