Slyphs and 'glyphs-Fotd

Swan stared at the tattoo on her brother's arm. It was thick and black, circling around his arm like a snake. He had gotten a human artist to draw it out for him then tattoo it on his arm. She wondered if it was the metal in the tattoo ink that killed him or the needle the artist used. Her father Blackbird was outraged, not only because his only son was dead but because he was murdered. The human must have known he was fae.
After Rook's funeral Swan escaped through the veil to the mortal realm. She wandered, lost, for a good while. This was not the same place she used to play in as a child. There were no fields left, the small island she used to love was now a bustling metropolis. The nugget of pain in her chest began to change to rage. It felt like she carried her brothers life in her heart now. She had not intended to avenge his death but the crazed whisperings of the sparrows around her turned her. The new world was full of metal and malice. She intended to put it right.
Swan asked the mortals where they could get tattoos in the city. She visited hundreds of small shops in the city and dotted around the bridges. Even the back allies were full of haggard looking men giving tattoos to giggling school girls. Unsuspecting of the dirty needle and tainted ink. She could smell the infection setting in with the first prick of the pin.
It was all but hopeless until one rainy day a man recognized the tattoo Swan described. He was handsome, tall and dark his hands, arms and face tattooed with beautiful symbols of love or religion. He looked like a living piece of art. Swan wanted to stroke his arms till the Virgin Mary's came alive under her palm. "My name is Michael," he told her. "I did the tattoo on your brother. He wanted something for people to remember him by."
Swan tried not to hiss, this man killed her brother but was it by accident? " My brother was allergic to metal. You killed him with your needle." The words rushed out before she could stop them. Michael's face was contoured in terror and pain. There was no way he could have known Rook was a Slyph. Swan let the anger, hate and pain fall away from her like a she was shucking a cloak. Instead of wrapping her hands around his throat she pushed her hand into his and squeezed. Forgiveness was easier then death she thought.

There is going to be an Evil Shades Haul post coming soon. I'm struggling with some home work right now so it may be tomorrow instead of today. Sorry guys. I'm a bit swamped because I forgot to do a ton of work over the weekend. What does this teach you kids? Finish your home work BEFORE you have fun. -.- I hope you enjoyed the short story. I love tattoos and faeries so why the hell not combined them. Though if you are a faery and your going to get a tattoo please get it done with a different type of metal. I know tattoo needles are made out of surgical steel but I'm allergic to surgical steel so... yeah. :3

  5. Cacau- I don't think I would have forgiven him either even if it was an accident.
Littleisis-I just stopped trying to be who I was not. Besides adding flourish to every single word gets tiring after awhile.
Phyrra- Ah it's such a gorgeous color.
    Peach-Thanks honey!!! :D
Robyn- Oh boy, I guess we'll have to see. Now I'm nervous lol. By allergic I mean my skin turns black/green like it's reacting to nickel. It's kind of weird. n.n Thank you this look was fun to do.
