Actually in flower speak I think Poppies are for elegance I can't recall. Victorians were fascinated with flowers and what they meant. Roses were for love, but certain colors meant different things like friendship or passion. There were even flowers that meant you were sick of seeing them or that you weren't interested in being with them. So if you gave some one a bouquet of babies breath, forget me nots and pink roses that means you have a sweet innocent love for them. Like puppy love or maybe just an infatuation with how they looked that night on the dance floor. And if you didn't your mother in law pestering you on a certain day you'd send her some striped carnations. Maybe then she'll actually invite you a week in advance when she's planning something instead of a day. (Cough this has nothing to do with my life right now. *lies* Cough)
I know this because when I was younger I was obsessed with the American Doll Samantha. She lived during the Victorian times but was very modern for her time. I remember her rescuing her best friend Milly from a factory so that she could come live with Samantha. And because Samantha had such a big house she was able to keep Milly or Abby or whatever her name was in the house for weeks without her grandmother finding out. I thought she was a pretty awesome roll model. ( Better then frelling Miley Cyrus or Bella Swan kthx.)

Love the colors on you!
ReplyDeleteI adore this look! Very pretty and softly dramatic. And Samantha was my favorite American Girl for a while, um, until my parents gave me Felicity. (But I still had mad love for Samantha.)
ReplyDeleteGorgeours look! I love that dusky pink-red colour. I love the weird meanings of flowers. I remember an advert where someone in italy buys a girl white carnations and leaves them outside her house but in the italian culture (at least i think it was italy) white carnations mean death so everyone in the village thinks the girl has died :P
ReplyDeleteAmerican Girl books/dolls ftw!
ReplyDeleteYou're making me lust after the Victoria's Revenge collection something awful. You have to stop! My wallet is starving!
Phyrra- Thanks hun!
ReplyDeleteKathy- Thank you and I loved Felicity too she had the best dresses. I had Kirsten and Samantha and... I don't remember who else. I think just those two. They're both in my closet since my fiancee is afraid of dolls. LOL
Lillian- XD That sounds really cute and funny. I'm going to look that ad up on youtube.
